When highlights or toning may suit you
Highlights are worth discussing if you want to add variations in lightness without colouring the full length in one shade. A few selected sections can bring out the cut and movement of the hair. Toning, meanwhile, may be considered between larger colour appointments when the lightness is right but the shade has become too warm, dull or different from the intended result.
Before choosing a service, look at your hair in daylight. If dark roots or a lack of lightness are your main concern, toner alone may not resolve it. If you like the colour placement but its character has changed, refreshing the tone may be the right place to start.
Highlights, babylights and glossing explained
Highlights are selected sections of colour whose width, number and placement affect the contrast. Babylights usually means very fine, closely placed highlights that weave shades together more subtly. A delicate result does not automatically mean a short appointment: precisely sectioning fine strands can take time. Subtle highlights describe the impression of lightness rather than one fixed application pattern.
Toning refines the shade of the existing base. The term glossing is sometimes used for services that refresh the tone and the appearance of shine. The exact result depends on the product used and the hair's condition. The name alone does not guarantee a particular formulation or that the hair's structure will be entirely unaffected.
Two possible appointment plans
If lighter sections are needed, the first steps are to agree their placement and assess the hair's history. After the appropriate application and rinsing, toning can refine the result. If the service is solely a toner refresh, the starting point is an assessment of current lightness, porosity and any areas where the colour has faded unevenly. The application method and conditioning are chosen afterwards.
The approximate 60-minute slot in the example service plan applies to toning/glossing. It does not cover a full highlights or babylights appointment. Lightening additional sections requires a separate agreement on the service and time when booking. On the phone, explain whether you want to go lighter or simply change the tone.
What toner can do
Toning can soften unwanted warmth, create a beige tone or bring the shade of lighter and darker sections together. It is not a universal way to lighten dark hair dye to any level. Pigment can settle differently on very porous ends than on healthier lengths, so an even result requires an assessment of the whole hairstyle.
Shine also depends on the smoothness of the surface and how it reflects light. Professional finishing can improve the appearance, but does not mean that all damage has been permanently repaired. The colour you want needs to be considered alongside the base achieved; a neutral beige may sometimes be more appropriate than trying to make insufficiently light hair intensely cool.
Looking after a subtle colour result
Toning colour gradually changes as you wash your hair. Use care suited to coloured hair and avoid casually combining several colour-depositing products. If a warm beige was agreed at the salon, frequent use of a strongly pigmented purple mask may take the result in another direction. Follow the instructions for each product and observe the lengths and ends separately.
Handle lightened sections gently when detangling and avoid overheating them during styling. Look out for uneven product build-up. Rather than repeating all-over lightening whenever the colour becomes warmer, discuss a toner refresh. The timing depends on the hair's condition, how often you wash it and the shade you want to maintain.
Preparation and what the example price covers
Mention previous colour reactions, home colour-depositing products, henna and plant-based preparations. Toning may also require an allergy alert test, depending on the instructions for the particular product. A strand test assesses something different and cannot replace these requirements. An irritated scalp or badly damaged hair is a reason to contact the salon before your appointment.
The price from 120 zł is an example for toning/glossing and must be confirmed. It should not be treated as the price for every set of highlights. Call 663 304 091 to agree the actual cost. Studio Fryzur – Jowita Litwin is at ul. Szczecińska 3/4 in Goleniów.

Before your visit
Will toner lighten my dark colour?
It should not be planned as a substitute for lightening. Toning mainly works with the shade of the existing base. A noticeable change in lightness may require a different service.
Are babylights always gentler on the hair?
The name alone cannot tell you this. The amount of hair being lightened, previous treatments, the product and the hair's condition all matter. Fine highlights also need appropriate care.
Can purple shampoo replace salon toning?
It can influence some warm tones, but cannot recreate every shade or even out every difference between sections. Choose it to suit the desired result and use it according to its instructions.
Which service should I ask for when booking?
Describe the concern: the colour is too warm, the highlights are too dark, the regrowth is too obvious or you want more brightness around your face. This helps establish the right service more clearly than a name alone.
